Ask The Acupuncturist

How does Acupuncture help for Stress Relief?

Hey Everyone!  It’s your friendly Portland neighborhood Acupuncturists. Honestly, I’m always trying to “Look on the bright side of life” (Monty Python reference intended). I can, and do count my blessings. At the same time, lets be totally honest… 2020 Has been a total s@#t storm. Take your pick of current events and then put it all together and we’re all pretty MAXED OUT.

Do you need a natural way to find stress relief? At the clinic we are seeing lots of people are having panic attacks right now and we want you all to know that you can get help with Acupuncture for stress relief!

I feel it. I totally fell off the ‘Self Care’ wagon this summer. It had been almost 3 months since I’ve had an acupuncture treatment. I know, I know…the shock and horror, but perhaps you forgot about that relaxed, “AcuZone” feeling after a visit.  If you haven’t had an acupuncture treatment, then it’s about time to start.

Better Relaxation with ‘Tune Ups’

That RELAXATION counts big time on the score card of life. So last week, I scheduled with Scott here at the clinic. Getting an acupuncture treatment was a great reminder how crucial acupuncture is for a headache and neck pain…but also how relaxed I have felt since getting acupuncture. Now I scheduled my ‘Tune Up’ appointments for 3 weeks.

Skeptics are Welcome

To bring it all home, let me tell you a story about my family. Many of you know I’m “The Unlikely Acupuncturist.” Twenty five years ago I came to acupuncture as HUGE SKEPTIC. Keep in mind, my dad is exponentially more skeptical. My dad thinks chiropractic is complete quackery and he is not at all comfortable with acupuncture. After all these years, he has had only one acupuncture treatment with me. He humored me while visiting a couple years ago.

After his treatment, he got up off the table and shrugged his shoulders and said he ‘didn’t notice anything.’ These things don’t hurt my feelings, but I was a bit surprised. He looked relaxed to me. The funny thing was that that night back at our house, he kept pacing the house, breathing deeply, and would say over and over: “I feel so relaxed…I feel so relaxed.” Trust me, my dad isn’t exactly known for his relaxation and I hadn’t even poured him any wine yet either.

The moral of the story is…get an acupuncture treatment. Seriously, the world would be a better place if we all got acupuncture treatments.

Science Supports Acupuncture

Acupuncture turns off the stress chemicals in your body and turn on the happy hormones. Research shows that acupuncture helps veterans with PTSD related insomnia.  Our minds and bodies need this support. These habits and patterns change our day to day chemistry and health. How many different ways are you building better habits?

Keep tuned up. Science says that acupuncture reduces pain, increases relaxation, and improves immunity.

For your health and happiness, schedule regularly. Especially with all these current events. Take a load off. Remind your body that this is a natural state. Strengthen those good habits. You deserve a good dose of home grown, natural, RELAXATION.
