Dr. Kayla Harrop, DACM, LAc

Kayla is a doctor of acupuncture.  Her own path to healing from sports injuries fuels her passion for treating musculoskeletal pain including:

  • Sports injuries
  • Car accident injuries
  • Chronic pain
  • Arthritis

She integrates functional medicine, herbal prescriptions, nutrition, and exercises into her treatment plans.  That is how she can help people suffering from a range of health complaints that include concussions, traumatic brain injuries, neurological disorders, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and digestive imbalances.

Kayla’s journey into becoming a doctor of acupuncture began with a childhood love of plants.  She grew up in the redwood forests of northern California and developed an interest of how plants can be medicine.

By the time she was 12 years old, Kayla was creating herbal tinctures.  To do this she had to convince her parents she was responsible enough to buy her vodka for the preparation.  Fortunately, she earned that trust and her path to becoming a doctor of acupuncture had begun.

She chose to devote herself to acupuncture after a bad weightlifting accident made walking difficult. It was acupuncture that helped her regain her ability to walk again. And that experience opened the path to becoming a massage therapist, then receiving her master’s degree at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and then completing her doctoral degree at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco.

Kayla’s training is focused heavily on anatomy and kinesiology which aligns with her love of weightlifting. Kayla loves being able to treat muscle imbalances and injuries to help her patients reach their physical goals.  Her treatments focus on relief, repair, and maintenance to ensure people get better and stay better.  She has a passion for functional medicine and can see each patient wholistically as an individual because “we are much more than a sum of our parts.” Education is a cornerstone of her patient’s success and that is why her patients experience added benefits like better sleep, improved digestion, and reduced stress…just to name a few.
